I grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, but my introduction to the outdoors came when I was a small child. I spent a lot of time fishing with my uncle, both open water and ice fishing. I didn’t get in to hunting until 2017 but I immediately fell in love with it. I try to spend as much time as I can outdoors.
My husband and I bought a 5th wheel trailer at the end of the summer of 2019 and spent almost every weekend camping until it got too cold. There’s just something about waking up in the morning, stepping outside and being surrounded by trees, water and birds chirping.
We live on 5 acres in Dorset, surrounded by Crown land for miles in every direction. With an abundance of maple trees, we spend our springs tapping trees and making maple syrup, something I also did with my uncle as a child. I’ve tried my hand at gardening but it never really works out, and I’m fine with that.
My goal is to encourage other women and children, especially young girls, that they don’t need to look or act a certain way to get respect in the outdoors.
